        Bluebell Walk 2013

In May 2013 we organised a walk to Thorncombe Woods to see the bluebells. It was a drizzly and overcast day, which actually made the blue of the flowers more vivid, and the perfume was beautiful. We followed footpaths to the woods and wandered around seeing the blue carpet from different viewpoints, and noting the sudden change from bluebells to wild garlic in one part of the woods. Our return route took us through Gribb farmyard and back via Blind Lane - a new route to some of us. Altogether a very enjoyable afternoon. Do come along next time you see a walk advertised if you’re interested in building up your knowledge of local footpaths - we’d love to see you.

There are lots of dips and hollows in the woods, the result of removing clay in the past.

At the far side of the wood the footpath leads over the field to Horseshoe Lane.
