This is a new area for our website - we intend to collect memories of the village and the parish from anyone who can contribute. We hope it will grow as people learn of its existence and send in their reminiscences. Even memories from a few years ago can remind us of our own stories about local people and events. Please get in touch if you would like to share any memories you have ...... Photographs are fantastically important for us to be able to visualise life 50 or 60 years ago. We can scan in the images and return photos very quickly - so if you have any that you would like to contribute please contact us, we will take very good care of them.

Reminiscences from Ruth Anderson ( nee Loveridge)

" Loved the story of the evacuee girl, Louise May Silver and her time in  Thorncombe. I was born in 1945 and  I remember the Down family with whom she lived, but never knew ........"

Hopefully this is just the beginning of this fascinating area of our history.
If you have any memories of Thorncombe as it was - it doesn't have to be
from very long ago, do please get in touch.
We hope that reading this will remind others of people and places they knew, and will provide younger people,  and newcomers to the village,  an absorbing and useful resource.
