These amazing birds were recently re-introduced on Salisbury Plain
and had their first successful fledging last year - the first time
since 1832!

![]() Look at our page on Chard Junction Nature reserve There is a colony of sand-martins nesting in the reserve, last year a pair of ringed plovers nested there and the record book in the hide makes interesting reading. The total number of bird varieties seen so far total 116 (as at January 2011) - the complete list is being updated regularly. Butterflies - take a look at our new page.

Our bat detector is available for members to borrow. There is no charge, however we ask for a cheque made out for £50 as a deposit, given back to you on safe return of the detector.
